Lathrop Elementary Schools to Receive Cash and Book Donations

The City of Lathrop in partnership with the Lathrop Sunrise Rotary Club and the San Joaquin

County Public Library recently concluded the Holiday Book Drive. A total of $532 was

collected. The book drive was established to benefit Lathrop Elementary Schools and to

encourage Lathrop children to read books. The book drive began on Monday, November 19,

2007. The Lathrop community was invited to participate by donating new or gently used

books.

The City is pleased to announce that approximately 900 age-appropriate books will be

distributed to the following schools: Lathrop Elementary School, Joseph Widmer School,

Mossdale Elementary School, and the new Lathrop High School. Cash donations were received

and books that were unable to be used by the schools were sold in order to raise money for

Mossdale Elementary School, Lathrop Elementary School, and Joseph Widmer School.
