Place in the City of Lathrop. He arrived within 2 minutes to find the house on fire with the
second story fully engulfed in flames. Deputy Biedermann was met out in front of the house by
Antonio Hernandez and Antonio Ramos who said their mother was still inside upstairs, and they
could not get her out. Deputy Biedermann called for Lathrop Fire to respond, then he entered
the house to rescue Brenda Ramos. Deputy Biedermann had difficulty seeing due to the dark
smoke billowing throughout the house. Deputy Biedermann made his way upstairs and found
Brenda Ramos unconscious and unresponsive. Deputy Biedermann pulled her from the house
and rendered first aid. He then ran back into the house and rescued three dogs that were
trapped in the house. Deputy Biedermann risked his life to save the life of Brenda Ramos, had
he not entered the building when he did, she may very well have died. Brenda Ramos received
medical treatment from Lathrop Fire personnel and at the San Joaquin County Hospital, but her
life was saved by Deputy Biedermann. His heroic actions and courage in the face of danger
