The Grand Opening of the New Best Western Inn and Suites owned by Dalwinder Dhoot took
place Saturday February 23rd 2008 with 100 guests present to congratulate his great
accomplishment. Lunch was served by Olde Towne Catering before the ribbon cutting
ceremony and tours were available to check out all the wonderful features of this new hotel.
Councilmember Sonny Dhaliwal was pleased that the Manager and Front Desk Clerk positions
were filled with employees residing in Lathrop bringing us a little closer to “living in Lathrop and
working in Lathrop”. He also reminded the crowd that this was not an easy construction
project for the owner due to many conditions implemented by the City of Lathrop. Dalwinder
Dhoot complied with each and every one producing a structure that displays more elegance
than any other establishment in Lathrop according to Lathrop Chamber President Mary
Kennedy-Bracken. Gorgeous décor such as the crystal chandeliers, a spiral staircase, the
honeymoon suite, and indoor pool are unique characteristics of Lathrop’s newest “home away

Dalwinder Dhoot has owned Joe’s Travel Plaza next door for 14 years where the Marine Corps
League presented him with a Certificate of Appreciation for Loyalty and Patriotism. He now has
two businesses side by side where he will proudly display the American flag for many years to
come.
